First impressions

I am wandering around the new Upresenter site and checking out what happens. I have developed AI templates for three presentations to assess their efficacy. I have also built a quiz. The system’s production has left me in awe. I expect that the export of PDF will prove helpful. The option to choose and duplicate diverse slides enables us to import them into ActivePresenter, thus enabling the creation of a sound-enhanced slideshow.

I was puzzled by the theme element where it says click to add title and subtitle. As the does not seem to be any control of what those items can be and when you generate the presentation, the title you gave in the first place becomes the main title, but you have no control over the subtitle.

But, I am overwhelmed by the product and am already considering new presentations to build for my students. I have yet to master the way to use the AI in order to develop different text. But if worse comes to worse, the slide can be exported and then when moved to ActivePresenter you can overlay whatever you would like to add.

So far, all is going splendidly.

Welcome to our community!

Thank you for your honest feedback, @John_Eastwood - we appreciate your contribution to improving our tool for future versions.

We recognize that the ability to choose and duplicate multiple slides is a crucial feature, and we’ll discuss to enhance this in the future. As for importing slides into ActivePresenter, we currently have no plans to implement this yet.

Could you please clarify your point about the theme element? Specifically, you mentioned having no control over the subtitle, and we’d like to understand this issue better.

Please feel free to explore the app further and don’t hesitate to share any feature requests or issues you encounter.

Best regards,
Hang

Hi John,

Happy to see you as one of the very first users on our new platform :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

We can’t express how happy we are to read these first impressions from you. Your kind words help motivate us more in improving the product for the official release later.

Regarding the title and subtitle feedback, could you please explain further like Ms. Hang asked above? Where do you feel stuck and how do you expect it should be? Our team will carefully take note of this to see if there’s a better workaround.

Please experience more with the AI generating features and exporting options and give more feedback to us. We are always welcome and are here to listen to you and other users.

Also, feel free to make suggestions on any extra features you think should be included to make your editing process on this platform more comfortably and effectively. It’s still a long way to go and we are excited to receive new ideas from users.

Cheers

Further experimentation has been underway. I was quietly impressed with the production by the ‘create with AI’ - though I’m wary of leaving it at that. I notice I can highlight distinct elements and then asked the AI prompt to rewrite. However, I was wondering if I could write something and then suggest the system to build such statements into slides? (Just me trying to automate the process of storyboard to slide deck in one step). That may be a bridge too far.

What I have been doing is to use ‘create blank’ and I have found that this could be very useful. I will be to create a set of personalised slides and then, if needed, could mix and match with AI created slides. One item which might be useful for other users is that when you wish to say alter the main title of the page in the AI is offering to do some alteration, it might be worth duplicating the slide before beginning to work on it I found that having tried to change the wording of a title and I ended up more or less getting stuck having changed it and there was no way to undo changes. (If one duplicates a slide, you can experiment and if you don’t like it, just delete the slide). I will continue playing. I may need to buy some credits very shortly

Great to hear that you’re further experimenting with uPresenter and finding the “Create with AI” feature impressive!

In the “Create with AI” section, you can suggest the system to build slides according to your specifications by adding more points and sub-points in the Outline area. It’s exciting to hear your idea of automating the process from storyboard to slide deck in one step. While that might be a bit advanced, the current capabilities still offer a lot of flexibility.

For undoing changes, using CTRL + Z or the Undo button in the top menu is a quick fix. Additionally, duplicating or copying slides from one project to another is possible, allowing you to mix and match AI-generated slides with your personalized ones.

Your tip about duplicating slides before making changes to the main title is great advice for other users. It’s a handy way to experiment without losing your original content. Keep exploring, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need more credits or have further questions. Happy creating!

Hang, here is a puzzle - I created a small image as a title - and clicked the bar to add an image - but it gets to the page and then I have yet to find a way of placing it on the ‘slide’
The image is seemingly stuck below the slide in the bottom left corner?

John, could you please share a screenshot of the issue so I can better understand your case?
From what you’ve described, it sounds like the issue might be related to column direction and I hope this video might help clarify things for you:

Hi team,

I take time to experience your tool. It’s impressive how quickly and aligned the content is generated. Glad to be one of the first comments here.

I guess I understand what you say since I got this issue yesterday, @John_Eastwood
In this Beta, I found that we can change the slide Direction. It is located on the right pane of the window. You can try to see which direction is suitable with your slide.

Then, I selected the image and changed it w/h, like this:

Thanks for your video illustrating the issue.

To place the title over the content, you first delete the existing content. Then, create a group and add both the title and content within that group.

Making progress! The colourful button Create with AI - perhaps suggests that there are simple solutions. The one thing about AI is that it does its own thing. Rather than what you would like if you were developing your own presentation. However, there is a compromise which is rather neatly achieved by using the initial steps after you select the Title/ slides or quizzes etc/. The initial generation is of an outline. Once you get to the outline - here you can step in - alter the sections, add sub elements and insert your own storyboard into the AI generation. It seems to work really well. By manipulating these sections and subsections, one can bring in the added detail which is skimmed over by generic AI production.

The output, of course, remains somewhat verbose. If you were going to utilise the presentation for teaching as I would, I would need to alter things. Thinking back to the old presentation adages, usually applied to PPTX -(A) 10/20/30 (10 slides – 20 minutes – font 30 point, (B) 4×4 – slide has four bullet points each bullet point essentially for words – keeping the presentation concise and easy to follow. (C) KISS - (keep it simple, stupid) – the simplicity of presentations highlight key points and returns the focus to the voice of the presenter. [the slide deck supports the presenter not the presenter shows the slide deck] (d) One idea per slide – this is as it stands - possibly not always possible.

This is being mentioned as the production of the AI is verbose. If the presentation is on the small screen for the audience (if online, no doubt, they might stop and read it). The voice-over is potentially the more powerful element and the visual aspect most times is supportive. Although diagrams may actually lead the discussion.

Taking this one step further, it might be useful to note - make sure that the text that is generated remains on the initial slide when it is exported to PDF. If one then takes the PDF which has been generated and opens it up in one of several PDF editors, one can save it (OCR recognition) and it becomes easily editable. You can even then export that OCR PDF to say PowerPoint or directly into ActivePresenter. This will allow further easy manipulation, and you can then export as an HTML5 to your domain(able to add downloads and resources) or generate an MP4.

This takes nothing away from Upresenter - it becomes a splendid production tool to work with ActivePresenter. I use ActivePresenter to build my HTML5 web presentations - I need to have pptx to populate my online tutorial spaces. I was initially intrigued by the production, and am now more excited by the way I can manipulate and steer the production.

Thank you for exploring uPresenter and sharing your detailed feedback! We’re thrilled to hear about the progress you’ve made and how you’ve been experimenting with the “Create with AI” feature. Your approach to refining AI-generated content and aligning it with presentation best practices is excellent.

Although uPresenter is an independent app and not integrated with ActivePresenter, your method of using PDF editors and integrating content into ActivePresenter shows how these tools can complement each other effectively. We’re excited that uPresenter is helping you create more tailored and effective eLearning materials.

Keep experimenting, and don’t hesitate to share more insights as you continue to use uPresenter!

I note the import button on the page - I was wondering if one could import particular templates - to create a larger range than already given. - and what format would be required for the template?

Thanks for your question.
Templates have specific requirements for layout and page elements, and so on. That’s why we currently don’t support importing templates into uPresenter.
